A little bit about Choro''The real Brazilian Soul''Heitor Villa-LobosChoro (''cry'' or ''lament'' in English) is a Brazilian Popular music. Its origins are from the 19th century. In spite of the name, the style often has a fast and happy rhythm, characterized by virtuosity and improvisation. This instrumental music is considered the first urban music of Brazil.Like the Jazz in USA, Choro had influenced all the Brazilians genres, including Samba, Forró and Bossa Nova.Choro resulted from the style of playing European musical genres by Brazilian musicians, who were already strongly influenced by African rhythms.Because of this European influence choro is composed in a ''Rondo'' form, which is commonly used in Classical and Romantic music as a part of a sonata, symphony, concerto or chamber music.Normally played with 7-strings guitar, flute, mandolin, cavaquinho and pandeiro (tambourine), the choro has some characteristics of Baroque music, with its extremely creative and melodic counterpoints.Nowadays Choro collects clubs and fans all over the world thanks to its sophistication and particular rhythm.

A little bit about Choro das 3:Choro das 3 is a Brazilian trio which was formed in 2003. Since then, the 3 sisters from the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, who have chosen to play instrumental music, have been recognized professionally at a level never imagined. In spite of their young age, sisters Corina, Lia and Elisa have amassed an amazing number of major performances.In 2002 they played for a public of more than one million people during their performance at Reveillon at Paulista Avenue, a public New Years Eve Party, in Sao Paulo.They had an unforgettable experience playing at the Mass for Peace in the presence of over 70,000 people. The mass was said by Father Marcelo Rossi and it took place at the Morumbi Stadium, in the city of Sao Paulo.In 2003 the Girls of the Choro won the championship at the Adoniran Barbosa Festival, an annual music competition in Sao Paulo. In that particular year, about 5,000 public schools participated in the event and thousands of students and state workers applauded the choros played by the young trio.Throughout their 7-year career, the musical talent of Choro das 3 has been enjoyed by very distinguished audiences such as: president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and ministers from the Federal Supreme, the Superior Justice and the Electoral Superior Tribunals, who were very impressed and touched by their music, praising them for their work in spreading Brazilian music and culture. The girls, having been invited to perform at the Sao Paulo Governors Palace several times, have had the privilege to play for former governors Geraldo Alkimin and Jose Serra, who have publicly stated their admiration for their music.2008 became a landmark year for Choro das 3 with the release of their first CD, entirely recorded, produced and mixed by the sisters. The CD brings the very informal feel that is characteristic of the Rodas de Choro in which the trio participates in Sao Paulo. Rodas de Choro are public jamming sessions where the best choro musicians get together and play for hours. They are usually held on weekends, in musical instrument stores downtown Sao Paulo. Anyone can join in and a Roda de Choro is always a great place for young musicians to start their career and have direct contact with the best musicians of the genre.The CD was released by Som Livre, one of the major recording companies in Brazil. It received rave reviews from music critics, who recognized the group as a very important and fun way to introduce the listener to the world of Choro. Their work mixes tradition and innovation in the Brazilian music landscape.Choro das 3 has become nationally known through their participation in interviews on very popular talk shows in various TV channels such as Globo, Gazeta, SBT, Rede Vida, Multishow, Globo News. Through these shows their work has reached thousands of people around the country. Their CD has been played on AM, FM and internet radio stations, it also has been spontaneously used as prizes in radio game shows. Radio Globo produced one such show and distributed many copies of the CD to its listeners during the course of that show. For Choro das 3, 2009 ended on a very special note when they received the 2008 Best Popular Music Group Award, chosen by the Sao Paulo Art Critics Association (APCA), which recognizes and awards individuals and groups who stand out in the arts.

Whistling
Besides the great diversity of instruments that the group plays, on this concert they also bring the piano to the stage.Whistling is the name of a Choro composed by Elisa, the youngest of the group, and it gives the name of this concert because all of the songs presented have memorable melodies and can be easily whistled.
Based on the group's first released cd, My Brazilian Brazil is a didactic concert.It has around one hour and Choro das 3 presents with mastery Brazilian classics and new works, interspersed by brief explanations about Choro genre, composers and their time.The group presents mandolin, clarinet, banjo, flute, tambourine and 7 strings guitar.
A concert of the radio era, Inspired by the old Brazilian radio show called "The Old Time Folks", where it's host Almirante used to constantly praise the Brazilian Music and it's musicians.Choro das 3 invites to the stage a musician from the old days and goes through an amusing talk during the concert gathering the life and the relashionship of the guest with Choro.
